Comelit solutions for the safety of competitions and the Paralympic Ceremony at Milan–Cortina 2026

In preparation for the Milan-Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic Games, the Olympic Stadium in Cortina d’Ampezzo underwent a strategic renovation that included the implementation of advanced security systems. As the official venue for the curling competitions and the opening ceremony of the Paralympic Games, the stadium is now a state-of-the-art facility, capable of hosting over 7,000 spectators while complying with the highest international standards.

Comelit and the Security of Cortina 2026 Sports Venues

The technological upgrade was entrusted to Due Esse Impianti, a company based in Sonico (BS) with over thirty years of experience in the building systems sector.

The Brescia-based company managed the implementation of the entire stadium’s infrastructure – from climate control to lighting – assigning Comelit the crucial responsibility of developing the security systems, a strategic component for an event of such magnitude.

Thanks to the close collaboration between Comelit’s technical team, led by Sales Engineer Alessandro Pititto, and the specialists from Due Esse Impianti, a fully integrated security system was developed to ensure maximum protection during the Milan-Cortina 2026 Games.

Video surveillance for sports venues with smart video analytics

To ensure continuous monitoring of the venue, Comelit installed cameras from its Advance line. These devices feature cutting-edge deep learning algorithms capable of accurately identifying key subject characteristics. Functionalities include line crossing, area intrusion detection, facial recognition, heat mapping, and people/vehicle counting — ideal for security during high-attendance events like the Olympics.

Intrusion detection with video verification for stadium security

For perimeter protection, a VEDO intrusion detection system was installed with full Cloud connectivity. Integrated with Advance cameras, the system also includes video verification, enabling real-time viewing of alarm events via the Comelit App. This is a highly effective solution for ensuring sports venue safety during Milan-Cortina 2026, where rapid response is essential.

Emergency Communication in Quiet Zones

In the stadium’s designated calm areas, six emergency entrance panels from the Emergency series were installed. These devices support communication with both IP switchboards and smartphones via the Comelit App. This ensures fast, secure communication in the event of evacuation or critical situations, fully aligned with the standards required for international sporting events.
