Located in Jumeirah Lakes Towers, one of Dubai’s most dynamic residential districts, Upper House by Ellington Properties is a luxury residential development combining contemporary architecture, comfort and smart technologies.
The project comprises two residential towers with a total of 754 apartments of different sizes and layouts. Developed by Ellington Properties, the complex stands out for its panoramic views of Jumeirah Islands and the Dubai Marina skyline, as well as a wide range of resident amenities, including swimming pools, fitness and wellness facilities, sports courts and shared leisure spaces.
In a residential development of this scale, managing access and communication between apartments, entrances and shared areas requires a reliable, flexible infrastructure capable of supporting a large number of connected devices.
To meet these requirements, Comelit IP video intercom technology was selected, providing a scalable solution designed to manage numerous users and multiple access points through an integrated communication infrastructure.
The system combines Ultra Touch entrance panels, concierge units and Android-based indoor monitors, integrated with the building’s home automation system. Together, these technologies help simplify building management and improve residents’ everyday experience.
Comelit IP video intercom system: technology and design
Comelit implemented an IP-based video intercom system designed to meet the requirements of a large residential development. The IP architecture allows numerous devices to be connected and managed within a single infrastructure, providing flexibility in system configuration and the distribution of access points.
The ability to handle multiple simultaneous communications also meets the needs of a building with numerous apartments and entrances, while maintaining a straightforward user experience for residents and concierge staff.
A total of 16 Ultra Touch entrance panels were installed throughout the development. Combining minimalist design with an intuitive, customisable touchscreen interface, Ultra Touch integrates naturally into the building’s architectural identity.
The digital directory makes it easy to find and call individual apartments, while customisable interfaces and calling options ensure intuitive interaction, even in buildings with a large number of residents. This simplifies access management without compromising the aesthetics of the surrounding spaces.
The concierge areas are equipped with 8 Comelit IP concierge units, enabling staff to manage communication between entrances and apartments, coordinate visitor calls and support day-to-day concierge operations.
The concierge units also provide dedicated communication management features and the possibility of integration with other building security systems, offering additional opportunities for supervision and building management.
The result is a coordinated communication infrastructure that simplifies staff operations and provides a smoother access experience for residents and visitors.
IP video intercom and home automation: one interface for everyday comfort
Inside the apartments, technology integration plays a central role in the residential experience.
The project includes the installation of 754 Padua Android indoor monitors, integrated with the Schneider home automation system through app-in-app technology.
This integration allows residents to manage video intercom functions and access home automation controls from a single device, removing the need to interact with multiple separate interfaces.
Residents can therefore manage video intercom calls and access available home automation functions directly from their indoor monitor, making everyday interactions simpler and more intuitive.
The benefits are clear: fewer devices to manage, a more seamless experience across different functions and more intuitive control over the home.
The Android-based solution also facilitates integration between different technologies, meeting the needs of modern residential developments where video intercom and home automation systems must work together effectively.
Video intercom calls via the app: comfort and remote control
The ability to manage video intercom calls from a smartphone extends the benefits of the system beyond the apartment, providing greater freedom and flexibility in everyday life.
Through the Comelit App, where supported and enabled by the system configuration, residents can receive calls even when they are away from home, see and communicate with visitors, and remotely unlock authorised entrances.
This is particularly useful for managing visits or deliveries while away, without losing control over access to the building.
At Upper House, the integration of IP video intercom and home automation demonstrates how different technologies can work together to simplify access management and improve everyday comfort.
A solution designed to meet the needs of a premium residential development, where innovation, security and ease of use come together to deliver a more connected and intuitive living experience.
