Merano Residences in London

One of the most striking riverside developments in London – designed by renowned architects Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners – is the Merano Residences on Albert Embankment. With panoramic views across the heart of London, including the Houses of Parliament and the London Eye, and facilities such as a sky garden, piazza and cafe, it’s one of the most desirable addresses in the capital.

Developers St James teamed up with Comelit and Dimension Data Advance Infrastructure to equip the 40 apartments with a high-end IP door entry system fit for such a luxurious development. The appropriately named ViP system offers unrivalled functionality and performance across existing or purpose-built networks, using standard Cat5 cabling for speed and reliability. The door entry system at Merano Residences has been installed on the building’s secure network, which also hosts the access control, CCTV and home automation systems.

Being IP-based, the door entry system harnesses the benefits of IP technology to enhance the performance of audio and video. The system has no distance limitations and can provide an unlimited number of users with simultaneous video and audio communications. It’s also easy to install and to integrate with other IP devices.

The main entrance is equipped with the award-winning 316 Sense audio/video entrance panel integrated with a third-party access control reader. The entrance panel has a brushed stainless steel touch-sensitive surface with no buttons, integrated colour camera and and LCD screen.

Iconic design

Each apartment is fitted with a sleekly designed, state-of-the-art Icona Manager, a full duplex, hands-free door entry monitor and system manager with a 4.3 inch 16:9 colour touchscreen display. Featuring sensitive touch capacitive technology, LED backlighting and swipe function – and finished with a gloss surface in transparent, scratch-resistant polycarbonate edged with a brushed stainless steel surround – the Icona Manager can be semi flush-mounted, wall-mounted or desk-based.

The 10 penthouses are also equipped with a 1456G interface which connects to a third-party home automation system.

Nick Stevens, Business Development Manager at Comelit, said: “We are delighted to have supplied our door entry panels and monitors to such an exclusive development. In fact, Icona comes from the root ‘iconic’, and this applies in equal measures to the Merano development as it does to our door entry systems.”
