Happy Birthday Comelit!
Compagnia Elettronica Italiana Srl. was officially founded in Bergamo on June 28, 1956. Over the 60 years that followed Comelit established itself as an international benchmark in the door entry monitor sector, gradually extending its range of activities to the fields of video surveillance, anti-intrusion, home automation, access control and fire protection.
While the heart of the company is in the headquarters of San Lorenzo di Rovetta, in the Val Seriana, Comelit now has branches in 15 countries and exports its products to more than 70 countries worldwide. The group has a strong international vocation, with around 400 employees and a turnover of almost 93 million Euros, and has experienced constant growth even through the recent years of economic turmoil.
“Passion. Technology. Design”: the three words of our mission statement summarise the values on which Comelit has built and grown its success. Passion translates into the continuous and tireless pursuit of quality. Technology is the focus of the innovation that Comelit applies to its products and systems and that it pursues in research and development centres in Italy, France and Tunisia. Design is the element that defines the style of Comelit products and that in last few years has won prestigious international recognition. In 2013 the 3one6 Sense entrance panel won both the Red Dot Award and the Good Design Award. In 2015, Comelit won two Good Design Awards, with the Quadra external unit and the Icona monitor. Comelit’s home automation products also received important recognition: the patented multi-power One plate won the Red Dot Award in 2014.
The driving force behind Comelit’s evolution is, without doubt, innovation, which – particularly in the field of door entry monitor systems, the core business of the company right from the start – has marked the major steps in story of the sector. One of the milestones in this story was, in 1979, the launch of the first digital door entry phone, which, with just 3 wires, was able to connect up to 999 door entry phones; this was followed in 1999 by Simplebus, the first digital system with 2 wires + 2 parallel wires for door entry phone and monitor systems. In 2012 the ViP digital system was launched, which allowed all door entry monitor devices to be controlled via IP protocol, thereby eliminating any restrictions on the number of connections and on the distribution of the wires, as well as ensuring full integration with any home automation devices, including those produced by third parties.
Today Comelit products are in demand all over the world. Comelit products have been used in countless prestige projects: from the Stuy Town residential development in Manhattan to the Caribbean condominium in Singapore; from the luxurious Tour Odeon in Montecarlo to the Markthal, the famous covered market in Rotterdam.
