Milan is a global hotspot when it comes to design. A leader deeply rooted in the traditional values of its industrial fabric. It begins with the culture of design, which encourages constant product innovation, channelling manufacturing and creativity to fulfil the function-, ergonomics-, usability- and aesthetics-led requirements expressed by a constantly-evolving market. If mechanics is the source of this culture, architecture is the environment in which – particularly from the 1950s onwards – it has been expressed on an absolute level, through great master craftsmen. The Triennale di Milano is a symbol of this interaction between industry and applied art; from 1961 it has gone hand-in-hand with the Salone internazionale del Mobile, the most important exhibition in the world for players in this sector.
Comelit has won many prestigious international awards, especially in recent years. This proofs the excellence offered by the company, in keeping with Italy’s reputation as a word leader in terms of creativity. An example of this is the 3one6 Sense stainless steel door entry monitor entrance panel which, after great success at the Red Dot Design Awards in 2013, was honoured the following year with the Good Design Award and the Merlion Award 2014. Or One, the revolutionary multi-purpose home automation device which – also in 2014 – won the Good Design Award.
